Dear participants at Fastaval 2020

It is with great sadness that Fastavals main organizers (the Bunker) has decided to cancel this year’s Fastaval. We do so following recommendations from the Danish health authorities and because of the Prime Ministers announcement Wednesday evening. For many of you it will not come as a surprise, but it is nevertheless very, very sad. We all love Fastaval and a lot of people have already put a tremendous amount of work info the conference. The cancellation of Nerdy Christmas is not a fun message to receive, nor to give.

This situation is completely new. We have never been in this situation before and there is a lot of things we still don’t know how will work out. Within the next couple of weeks, The Bunker, Alea’s board and some of the organizers will discuss the consequences of the cancellation and how we secure a comeback for Fastaval in 2021. Please be patient with us. Every decision will be announced here and via email, but we need the time to do things right.

Fastaval has the financial capacity to cancel the event so please don’t worry about that. Right now, we work towards refunding as much of your ticket as possible, but how much we don’t know yet. This is one of the many things we have to figure out now.

We have not decided what to do about the scenarios and board games made for Fastaval 2020 yet. The Bunker is in dialogue with the Otto juries and the Scenario- and Board Game Organizers for both this year and 2021. Together we will try to come up with a solution, but no matter what we decide the result will be less that optimal for the many designers. We know that you care deeply about your games, and we understand that it is frustrating. But, please remember that all organizers at Fastaval are volunteers and we are handling the situation to the best of our abilities

Fastaval has a lot of organizers who have already put in an incredible amount of work. It is heartbreaking that we won’t be able to meet up in Hobro to congratulate each other on a job well done. Please know that you are the best and most dedicated group of organizers any Bunker could wish for. And we hope that you want to be a part of Fastaval for years to come despite the disappointment of 2020.

Everyone who have signed up for Fastaval can expect an official cancellation email during the weekend. When the Bunker have had time to look at the budget and made decisions about the creative parts of Fastaval, we will contact you again with further information and post to Facebook as well.

You are more than welcome to write us at bunker@fastaval.dk if you have questions. But we will probably not be able to answer all of them right away.
