You take the role of one of the lazy and lying hunters who spend their day at the local pub – the “Prince Henrik’s Inn”. These hunters can’t be bothered to go hunting, and instead enjoy telling stories about giraffes and other tales of hard-to-believe glorious hunts. The more Gin they drink, the better the stories get – up to a certain limit.
When you top your condition-meter, you have drunk too much gin and get a Blackout. To reduce the amount of Blackouts (that give negative points), you can drink a lot of coffee to compensate. Coffee tokens are obtained by collecting story cards. But if you do not get to tell the stories (play the cards) – you will also get negative points.
3-5 players can compete in this game, where the objective is to strike the right balance between drawing cards and coffee tokens, playing cards, drinking Gin and utilizing special ability of your character – all to achieve the most points and win the game.
The game is easy to play, and utilizes mechanisms such as set-collection, variable character power and card/hand management.
Gin and Giraffes is a party-game. With a few tweaks, you can easily play it as a drinking game (for legal-age drinkers only).
