Noetico is a 2-4 person cooperative game where each player will move and perform actions together as a single warrior. The players control the same warrior, who is possessed by spirits, but they can’t communicate outside of performing actions in the game. So each player will have to constantly re-evaluate their plan as they take into account new actions of their friends.

The game takes place on a hexagonal board, where the player character can move around and fight enemies. This board has environmental tiles which changes how those tiles can be navigated and serves to create variety in maps.

During a single round, each player takes turns committing one kind of action (move, attack, or ability). Once 3 actions have been committed in total, they will take turns performing these actions in any order. A player may choose to perform an action that they didn’t commit.

The warrior that the players control is possessed by one of 4 spirits. Each spirit has a unique ability. When a player performs an ability action, they will perform the ability of the spirit that the warrior is currently possessed by. After performing said ability, they will choose a new spirit to possess the warrior, which in turn will change the ability available to perform.

At the end of the round enemies will perform actions and event cards will be drawn to create an element of unpredictability. The players only have a single life so if they get hit it’s game over.

Noetico is a chaotic, fully cooperative boardgame, where players need to formulate plans each round only then to discard them immediately when their friends make an unpredictable move. It’s not a puzzle game, it’s not about finding the perfect solution to every problem. It’s about reacting to your friends’ gameplay and playing as a team.

About the designer

Game designer, programmer, poet, and owner of at least 3 instruments. With a wild passion for random creative thoughts that interrupts him on a daily basis. There is no project he will not start and no project that he will finish. Loves playing, designing, making art for, writing music for, and programming games. A jack of some traits, master of none. Is sometimes spotted trying to climb a wall.

Jesper enjoys games such as Spirit Island, Outer Wilds, Robo Rally, Lethal Company, and many more.

He studied computer science at KU and games technology at ITU.

Portuguese human that focuses on design and programming of games. Working at Faraos Cigarer and Bastard Cafe, he is surrounded by board games all the time, his list of games to play and make only grows more by the day, and so does his collection of them. Surrounded by games, coffee and good people. Pedro loves to work with everyone to make sure everyone is having a good time and the boring tasks get done. Pedro is mostly a designer but takes a bit of a producer role in the team too.

A game designer who designs all kinds of games, from tabletop games to video games and even sports. Before studying Game Design in Copenhagen, João studied Journalism. Coming from Humanities, his love for the arts is only natural. If not busy making his many beloved spreadsheets, he’s likely writing some books. The most important thing for João in the world is artistic freedom.

Karla is an architecture student, aquarium-lover, water drinker, alchemist, collector of hobbies, wool lobbyist, and semi-professional yapper.

Karla has never said no to an exciting creative project, and is not about to start either. Unfortunately, her creative process is as chaotic as her calendar, but with the right amount of caffeine in her system she’s able to deliver some consistently decent illustrations. Hence, Karla is the illustrator of the Noetico-team.
