Fastaval exists thanks to a diverse and dedicated group of organisers who work hard every year to create a fantastic experience for all participants and contribute to an indispensable community of organisers. Whether behind the scenes or on the front line, each organiser helps in their own way to make Fastaval something special. Otto’s medal of merit is an honorary award that aims to recognise the work of the organisers and highlight those who have made a special effort in their field, spread good cheer and been a role model for Fastaval’s sustainable community of organisers. The award is given exclusively for the work done in a single year.

How Otto’s medal of merit is awarded

During Fastaval, organisers can nominate their co-organisers for the award by contacting the Information Desk. On Sunday during Fastaval, the main organising group will review all nominations and select one winner and a number of honourable mentions. The award will be officially presented during the Otto Show on Sunday evening, where the recipients will be recognised for their significant contributions to Fastaval.

The motivation behind the award

Otto’s medal of merit is inspired by The golden plunger, which honours participants who go the extra mile. With this award, the main organising group wishes to create a similar recognition for the organisers who ensure that Fastaval runs smoothly. We hope that the award will help to highlight and appreciate the great work that the organisers put into creating Fastaval year after year.
