A scenario about life on the run, about the people you meet along the way, about the things you leave behind, about friendship among strangers, and about the journey toward a better place.

The Wanderers is a drama/adventure roleplaying scenario about being a refugee, set in a recognizable world inspired by Nordic folk tales. The story blends the darkness, tragedy, and realism of life as a refugee with warmth, a sense of wonder, and an underlying hopefulness.
The scenario follows a small group of refugees and their journey through their war-ravaged kingdom, Drada, both in the many quiet, lingering moments on the road and around the campfire, and in the dramatic moments where everything is at stake.

The scenario follows a fixed structure with predetermined scenes. Within this framework, the players have room to take full ownership of the characters’ development and emotional journey through the story.

Content notes

Violence, discrimination, loss of close family members.

Type of participant:

You want to explore life as a refugee, and enjoy a grounded, character-focused story where the journey matters more than the destination, and where time is taken for both the small joys and great sorrows of life.

Type of game facilitator:

You enjoy asking thoughtful questions, cutting scenes before lingering moments drag on, and portraying a handful of supporting characters. The scenes are predefined and provide a solid framework to lean on, while still leaving room for you to put your own mark on the atmosphere, descriptions, and NPCs.
