Something lurks at Dolorous Gard! A terrible evil from the castle’s past has returned and haunts the master of the house. To root out this problem, the lord has summoned his great nephew and his amateur detective friends. Everyone is a suspect, the clues are everywhere and when the Lord is abducted a race against time begins to solve… The Mystery of Dolorous Gard
In this scenario, the players work together to invent a mystery from a series of random clues. The five young detectives attempt to solve the mystery by exploring the castle, interrogating the suspects and avoiding the monster. The players solve the mystery by making up the meaning of clues and their connections to the rest of the mystery by interpreting simple prompts, keywords and by using each character’s unique skillset. The goal is not to find the right answer, but to cocreate the cool solution by drawing on clichés and tropes from Scooby-Doo. How will you solve the mystery? Come along to Dolorous Gard and find out!

Type of participant:
The scenario is for the player who is ready to take control of the narrative and build both the mystery and its solution with their co-players. If you conspiratorially can connect any dots and if you are ready to loads of improvisation and off the cuff solutions, this is the scenario for you.
Type of game facilitator:
The gamemaster has to be ready to juggle many balls at a time. They have to play the suspicious supporting cast, control the monster that stalks the youths through the castle and make sure that the players do not get stuck by asking follow up and leading questions, that jogs the player’s imagination.
