HIVE Tournament

Hive is an award-winning board game with a difference. There is no board. The pieces are added to the playing area thus creating the board. As more and more pieces are added the game becomes a fight to see who can be the first to capture the opposing Queen Bee.

It is a 2 person game of abstract strategy.

In short, the tournament will be open to anyone, played without expansions but optionally with all the expansions too if both players agree (this is how official tournaments are usually played online as the game is complete and more balanced).

It would be a 5 or 6 rounds (games) swiss type tournament (so no knock-out, everyone plays the same number of rounds regardless of their results).The tournament itself would last 2-3 hours max (each game should have around 15 min thinking time per player, so 30 min in total for the whole game).

The rounds are timed with a chess-clock, and prizes will of coursed be handed out to the top performers in the tournament. 

A tournament sometimes sounds ‘scary’ for those who haven’t played many times, but it’s actually the best way to get playing into the game.
